…Says “Thank you afterall for your rainbow of support and courage in face of intimidation”
Dr. Maryam Shetty, who was on Friday, dropped by President Bola Tinubu as a ministerial nominee, has reacted to the withdrawal, thanking the president for what she terms his rainbow of support and courage in the face of intimidation after all.
Shetty said she remains grateful for Tinubu’s unrelenting support and thankful for any decision from him.
She also thanked the Vice President, Kashim Shettima for his support.
In a series of posts on her X social media platform on Friday, she said she was grateful and thankful for any decision from the President.
She wrote, “I was just informed now at today’s Senate plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdrawn my ministerial nomination and replaced me with Dr Mariga Mahmoud.
“I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you, My President!”
Shetty had however, earlier written, “My Dear President @officialABAT, Vice President @KashimSM I greatly appreciate. I am indeed grateful for your unrelenting support on each and every occasion. For your rainbow of support and courage in the face of intimidation. I thank you all.”
Recall that Tinubu had, on Friday, withdrawn her nomination for a ministerial position and replaced her with Dr. Mariga Mahmoud, another nominee from Kano State.
The President’s communication was addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who read it during plenary.
The State Online reports that though no reason was given for Maryam Shetty’s replacement, it was gathered it might not be unconnected with the way the young lady trended on social media, especially on Twitter, for her nomination on account of being too young and inexperienced.
A Twitter user with the name, Hon. Red Pen @wizmuckie tweeted, “Nigeria is a country where connections can make Dr. Maryam Shetty a minister. You see those people you refer to as friends now, they are the people you and your children will refer to as connections in the nearest future…My unsolicited advice for you, find the right people now and include them into your circle, whatever it takes…”
Another user, identified as Sarki. @Waspapping noted “Banter aside, having both Kwankwaso and Elrufai as ministers under BAT would’ve benefited Nigerians and especially Northerners a lot. But for some reason, PBAT picked Maryam Shetty with no known achievements over Kwankwaso who both the poor and average Nigerians adore./SHARE THIS
