Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has voiced apprehensions regarding the academic records of President Bola Tinubu, saying he hopes Nigerians don’t develop heart attack if his academic records are made public.
Speaking through Paul Ibe, his Special Adviser on Media, Atiku said that it is now obvious that President Tinubu is hiding something about his academic records.
Recall that a US magistrate court had, on Tuesday, ordered the Chicago State University (CSU) to produce relevant documents to prove that Tinubu attended the institution.
The ruling of the court followed a case instituted by Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is challenging the victory of Tinubu at the last general election.
CSU was given 48 hours to comply with the order of the magistrate court.
However, Tinubu, in a motion filed by his lawyers, is seeking to stop the university from releasing the records. The motion was filed before a federal judge, asking: ““is Atiku’s request that the academic records of President Bola Tinubu at the Chicago State University, US, be made available to him (Atiku) to enable him use them in his election petition case in Nigeria a genuine claim? He said Atiku had told Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert that he needed the records so he could file them at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Nigeria, which has rounded up its proceedings, saying “it’s now an after-thought.”
But, in a statement on Friday, Ibe said: “I hope Nigerians do not have a heart attack over what the president is allegedly hiding.
“It should be now obvious even to the blind that Tinubu is hiding something in his records at the Chicago State University, and even elsewhere,” he said.
“I do hope whatever it may be, it will not be of a scope that will give Nigerians a heart attack. Nigerians will soon see the true position of Atiku on the records of Tinubu at CSU. It is just a matter of time.”/SHARE THIS
