A4-year-old manager of SEAP Micro-Finance Bank, Saki, Sola Ogungbe has reportedly committed suicide in his Iseyin home.
Ogungbe was said to have given loan facilities to some customers who defaulted in repayment.
A staff was said to have called Ogungbe’s wife on Wednesday afternoon because the former manager had not been reporting at work over the loan default crisis.
On getting home to report the call to her husband, the wife met his corpse.
A close friend of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, said the deceased made a mistake by taking his life instead of discussing the issue with his friends.
He said: “The issue of suicide is becoming alarming, Sola made a great mistake by taking his own life because of debt, if he had shared this issue with his friends, maybe somebody would have come to his aid.
”Everyone is going through one thing or the other but our survival is anchored upon a communal living and friendship, tell people about your issues, you don’t even know who can help you.”
The body of the deceased has been taken to his hometown in Omu- Aran, Kwara State for burial.
Ogungbe’s travail leading to his death might not be unconnected with the ravaging poverty in the land in which citizens had to feed from hand to mouth, said a close friend, close Triend, Mr. Tunde.(agency)/SHARE THIS
