The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Lagos State, in its pursuit of mass employment generation, wealth creation, and poverty reduction, has commenced the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) training. This program encompasses both domestic and digital training for twenty (20) participants in Lagos State.
During the flag-off ceremony, Mrs. Elizabeth Omatsola, the Acting State Coordinator for Lagos, represented the Director-General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo. She emphasized that the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) is a very important program within the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) department of the National Directorate of Employment.
The objective of B-NOAS is to offer vocational and Technical skills training for the unemployed, representing an innovative approach by the NDE to alleviate poverty, foster self-reliance among participants, and ultimately empower them to become employers of labor.
The Acting State Coordinator also highlighted the remarkable success of the scheme, with many beneficiaries now self-employed, and some even emerging as entrepreneurs in their respective fields.
For this training batch, Mrs. Omatsola informed everyone that the twenty (20) participants were selected from the NDE unemployed database and will undergo a three (3)-month training in Domestic & Digital skills. She encouraged the participants to take the training seriously and make the most of the opportunity provided to them.
Furthermore, she urged the participants to serve as good ambassadors of the NDE.
