The Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Mathew Aboh, was on Sunday, abducted by gunmen who refused to contact his family three days after to establish whether it’s ransom they needed nor something else.
Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Hyacinth Alia, who confirmed the incident, said the governor has already directed security operatives to ensure the commissioner’s safe release.
Kula said, “Yes, we received the unfortunate news, and the governor has already detailed security operatives to do everything possible to ensure his safe release.”
It was gathered that the gunmen allegedly invaded the commissioner’s residence in Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA of the state at about 8pm on Sunday, where the kidnappers reportedly ordered everyone in the house, including Aboh’s wife and children, to lie face down before taking the commissioner away.
Aboh was sworn in as a member of the Benue executive council on August 29.
eanwhile, the Benue State Police Command has said it has begun a search of kidnapped Hon Matthew Abo, in what looks like a wild goose chase.
The spokesperson for the state Police Command, Catherine Anene, disclosing this to newsmen, said the command was doing everything possible to rescue the kidnap commissioner.
When asked about the efforts the CP was making to rescue the commissioner, Anene said, “Definitely, policemen have been on the operation since the information got to the command.”/SHARE THIS
