Former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo, on Friday, erupted into a joyous song following his last-minute nomination as minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu government. He sang the very popular Church chorus: ‘He’s a m-i-r-a-c-l-e w-o-r-k-i-n-g G-o-d, He’s the A-l-p-h-a and O-m-e-g-a, He’s a m-i-r-a-c-l-e w-o-r-k-i-n-g G-o-d!’
The State Online reports that President Tinubu had forwarded the name of Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and his Presidential Campaign Council Spokesman, from Delta to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
In the letter read during Senate plenary on Friday, Tinubu picked Keyamo as one of the two new nominees added to the second batch of ministerial nominees, one of whom was a replacement to Dr Maryam Shetty from Kano described as too inexperienced to be a minister and replaced with Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure also from Kano.
Excited by the nomination, Keyamo made an appreciation post on his verified Twitter handle, where he sang the very popular Church chorus: “He’s a miracle-working God. He’s a miracle-working God. He’s the Alpha and Omega, He’s a miracle-working God!”
The State Online reports that though no reason was given for Maryam Shetty’s replacement, it was gathered it might not be unconnected with the way the young lady trended on social media, especially on Twitter, for her nomination on account of inexperience.
A Twitter user with the name, Hon. Red Pen @wizmuckie tweeted, “Nigeria is a country where connections can make Dr. Maryam Shetty a minister. You see those people you refer to as friends now, they are the people you and your children will refer to as connections in the nearest future…My unsolicited advice for you, find the right people now and include them into your circle, whatever it takes…”
Another user, identified as Sarki. @Waspapping noted “Banter aside, having both Kwankwaso and Elrufai as ministers under BAT would’ve benefited Nigerians and especially Northerners a lot. But for some reason, PBAT picked Maryam Shetty with no known achievements over Kwankwaso who both the poor and average Nigerians adore./SHARE THIS
