The beleaguered chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, has, afterall, been replaced by the party’s leadership. In his place, a new acting chairman in the person of one of his deputies, Amb Umar Damagun, has emerged.

Damagum, who was the Deputy National Chairman (North), will occupy the seat in an acting capacity pending the determination of the substantive suit restraining Ayu from parading himself as National Chairman.

The State Online recalls that a Benue High Court sitting in Makurdi had, on Monday, ordered Ayu to step aside following a suit filed by his
Igyorov Council Ward in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Ward Executive Committee had suspended Ayu over a cocktail of wrongdoings bordering on anti-party activities, including failure to pay membership dues, not voting during the just-concluded general elections, among others./SHARE THIS
