A famous Lagos-Nigerian doctor, Femi Olaleye, the Managing Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his wife’s niece.
The judge, Rahman Oshodi, of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court in Lagos found the doctor guilty moments ago, on Tuesday, October 24.
Dr Olaleye was dragged to court on a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s niece, offences which he was alleged to have committed between March 2020 and November 2021.
The defendant was arraigned on November 30, 2022, and he pleaded not guilty to the offences.
However, the prosecution presented as many as seven witnesses, one of which was “withdrawn.”

The witnesses include the defendant’s wife, who reported the case to the police, the alleged rape victim, (name withheld); a child forensic specialist, Bisi Ajayi-Kayode; Police Inspector Esther Igbineweka; medical examiner Akinbunmi Oyebimpe and Abe Leonard, a police officer.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Dr Babajide Martins, had told the court that Olaleye had committed the offences sometime between February 2020 and November 2021.
He said the offence took place at No 17, Layi Ogunbambi close, Maryland, Lagos state.
Olaleye was accused of unlawfully having sexual intercourse with his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
He was also accused of sexually assaulting the teenager by penetrating her mouth and any hole available with his penis.
Olaleye was said to have told the teenager that virginity is no longer en vogue, and had drugged his wife to sleep away while he, most times devoured her niece.
After hearing all the arguments from both prosecution and the defendant, Justice Rahman Oshodi, of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, found Dr Olaleye guilty as charged and sentenced him to life imprisonment accordingly./SHARE THIS
