Nigeria’s main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to, first of all, demolish the Aso Rock presidential villa as well as numerous military barracks around it, as theywere not originally captured in FCT Master Plan, asking him to stop terrorizing common citizens with building demolitions.
Daniel Bwala, spokesman for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 presidential poll and PDP chieftain, who stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday night, asked him to be wary of his actions.
According to the PDP Chieftain, though Wike has the capacity to develop the FCT, he is just a “glorified commissioner” who should not arrogate the power of a State Governor to himself.
Bwala said among the 45 ministers of the President, Wike has proven to be the most effective, but however, warned the FCT minister not to embark on a revenge mission on opponents in the nation’s capital by threatening to demolish their structures.
Also, the PDP chieftain said the minister cannot terrorize residents of the FCT by threatening to demolish structures in places outside Abuja original Master Plan.
Bwala who is also a lawyer just like Wike, claimed that the Aso Rock seat of power and numerous military barracks around it were not originally captured in FCT Master Plan and the minister should first demolish those buildings before “terrorising” Abuja residents with demolition threats.
On PDP’s mindset concerning Wike’s numerous anti-party party activities, he said appropriate time for his expulsion, not just suspension, beckons.
This was coming a day after Wike, a former Rivers State Governor, dared the PDP leadership to suspend or expel him from the party for supporting the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ultimately working in his cabinet as minister.
Bwala said: “Why we hardly react to what he (Wike) says is because he loves drama a lot, everybody knows that.
“The quietness of the party is not weakness…the party knows what it is doing. At the appropriate time, he (Wike) would not only be suspended but expelled with ignominy. Take that to the bank.”/SHARE THIS
