The National President of DWN, Samuel Chukwuma, made the call in a statement he signed in Abuja.
“The aforementioned organisation is hereby calling on the security agencies in Nigeria to arrest Mr. Chidi Nwafor and investigate his role in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during and after he served as the ICT Director,” it said.
The group said that with the allegations on the role played by Nwafor, who was ICT director for 11 years at INEC headquarters in the outcome of election results in Nigeria, there is need for him to be arrested and investigated by the security agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to DWN, such shady activities that put the image of the nation at stake need to be investigated.
The group also called for the investigation of INEC with a view to unravelling more facts about allegations against Nwafor.
“He should be investigated on the role he played during the Anambra, Ekiti and Osun elections where a lot have been said about him.
“The national interest should supersede any individual’s greed.
“More so, Mr Nwafor needs to be investigated on allegation of owning the Share Trade Nig Ltd that was contracted and which developed the INEC election portal.
“As activists, we call on the security and the EFCC, in particular, to ensure that something is done with immediate effect as to save the image of Nigeria’s election umpire and, indeed, the image of the country at large.
“With the image of INEC at stake, we as a nation, must not allow selfish and greedy individuals to disrepute our image among the League of Nations by painting a corrupt picture of us using their shady activities.
“Nigerians must speak out and join in the call on the security agencies to ensure that the right measures are taken by investigating alleged persons,” the group concluded./SHARE THIS
