It is from frying pan to fire for the  ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took over from the Directorate of State Services (DSS) in manhandling him for all his misdeeds while his tenure lasted at the apex bank.

Emefiele is currently being detained in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The State Online confirms that Emefiele, who is currently being interrogated at the National Headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Jabi downtown of Abuja, was picked up by EFCC operatives, Thursday night, less than an hour after he regained his freedom from the dungeon of the Department of State Services.

Highly competent sources revealed that EFCC is probing Emefiele over alleged financial impropriety during his term as the head of the apex bank.

“Yes, Emefiele is currently in our custody (EFCC); he was arrested last night less than an hour after the DSS freed him. He’s currently being interrogated at the headquarters, as he’s being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds amongst other things during his term as CBN governor,” the source volunteered, adding that fresh charges may be filed against him by the EFCC.

Efforts to reach the new EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, proved abortive, but competent sources confirmed that Emefiele is in the anti-graft custody for another round of drilling for running foul of Economic and Financial Crimes Act, while at the apex bank as its governor.

The State Online reports that Emefiele had been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June when he was suspended from office and eventually forced to resign, as President Tinubu affirmed that he was running a voodoo financial system capable of grounding the nation’s economy./SHARE THIS
