Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has been given a new appointment in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in what appears as flogging a dead horse, soon after joining President Tinubu’s government in ministerial capacity.

Wike along with former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom; former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu; and former governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, among others were included in the Bayelsa Campaign Council list of the People’s Democratic Party.

This much revealed in a statement on Monday, July 31, 2023 by the PDP’s  National Public Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

The National Working Committee of the party released the membership of the Bayelsa State National Campaign Council for the upcoming election in the state.

Governor Douye Diri is the PDP candidate in the governorship election which will be held on November 11, 2023.

The inclusion of Wike who was screened and passed as Tinubu’s minister on Monday has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians. Many said his nomination doesn’t affect his commitment to the party going by the fact that if he was eventually confirmed as a minister, he will not be a minister for PDP or APC but for the entire citizen of Nigeria.

The State |Online recalls that Wike played roles in thwarting the presidential ambition of his party PDP’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakr, prompting the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president./SHARE THIS
