Rather than exclaiming joy at the home-coming of their son in Lagos, his home state, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu got the greatest shock of his life, when Lagos residents and traders at the popular Idumota market, Lagos Island, yelled and booed at him and decried the increasing hunger and desperation inflicted on them by the President, one of their own.

Filed on both sides of the road as seen in the video as the President’s convoy passed through the ever-busy market, the traders didn’t hail him, but rather yelled and booed at him, evidence of something being severely wrong with his style of leadership.

They instead kept talking of their pains, which they accused his administration of inflicting on them by bad policies that didn’t factor the poor and working class in the country.

The complaining voices in the video were heard saying the presidency had known the plan of the people which was the reason for the heavy security. However, the alleged initial plan was not made known.

President Bola Tinubu had arrived Lagos from Abuja penultimate week, ahead of the Christmas celebrations.

President Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, at 3.55 p.m. local time in Nigeria’s Presidential Jet NAF 001, and was welcomed by a crowd of supporters, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat; Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; Head of Service, Olabode Agoro and Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, among others.

Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains led by their Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); State Executive Council; and top government officials were also at the airport to receive the President.

Tinubu was accompanied by his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and other close aides.

The president came into the waiting hands of the Lagos State Cultural Troupe, who treated him to the traditional music and cultural dance of Lagos.

Tinubu moved around the airport and waved at the crowd, who came out to welcome him to Lagos for the Christmas celebrations.

The president later boarded a helicopter from the airport to Dodan Barracks in Ikoyi from where he would move to his private residence in Lagos.

It was at the Lagos Island end of Idumota Market that he met the stage for the epic drama./PLEASE SHARE
