President Bola Tinubu has, today, Tuesday, August 8, met with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Prof. Okonjo-Iweala arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 2:50 pm.

She was accompanied by a former Minister of State for Health under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Dr. Ali Pate.

Though no official statement has been made regarding  the reason for their meeting, close Aso Rock sources said it might not be unconnected with the president’s determination to turn the nation’s economic fortunes around for the better.

The State Online reports that Okonjo-Iweala was the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy during Jonathan’s government, during which the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose to an unimaginable high level.

Prof. Okonjo-Iweala last met with Tinubu in June when they both attended the leadership summit held in Paris, France./SHARE THIS
