Former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, has formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and withdrawing his membership after suffering merciless defeat in the hands of the Labour Party (LP) in the Enugu-east senatorial election.
Kevin Chukwu of LP had roundly trounced him to clinch the seat with a wide margin of 69,136 votes as Nnamani, garnered 48,701 votes.
The election was held last Saturday, following the initial February 25 date suspension on account of the murder of former LP standard-bearer Oyibo Chukwu, three days to the afore-fixed date.
Nnamani, in a statement on Monday, said after consultations with his associates and constituents alike, he had decided to quit the PDP on account of irreconcilable differences with the national leadership of the party.
The serving Enugu-east Senator, who was unequivocal about his support for President-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was expelled weeks before the 2023 general elections following alleged anti-party activities./SHARE THIS
