Bitcoin billionaire grants full scholarship in US, UK, Canada to JAMB-disgraced outstanding student, Mmesoma Ejikeme, after exam board makes mockery of her success by denying her UTME-JAMB result

Bitcoin Chief Gaius Chibueze, the founder of Tatcoin, has offered full scholarship to Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student who was accused by JAMB of forging her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

Recall that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had accused Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, of inflating her result and announcing herself as the top scorer for the 2023 UTME.

JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the 16-year-old student, who was widely celebrated for scoring the highest mark of 362 in the UTME, actually scored 249 in the just-concluded exam.

Benjamin claimed that the pupil tampered with the original result to seek favour from the Nigerian public, noting that the result would be withdrawn while Mmesoma would face prosecution.

Reacting to the allegations in a video,Mmesoma Ejikeme expressed surprise that a result she she printed out from JAMB portal could be termed by the examination board as fake.

The 16-year-old student, who lamented that she was traumatized, vehemently denied the allegation made against her by JAMB, saying she is not capable of manipulating her own result.

Reacting via his Twitter page, Gaius Chibueze popularly known as Bitcoin Chief, condemned JAMB’s attack on the student’s character, adding that he will fully sponsor her education up to the Master’s level in either the United Kingdom, Canada, or the United States.

The Bitcoin billionaire businessman said his team would ensure they get her admission from any institution in the countries mentioned above, and would take charge of her fees and upkeep until she completes her Master’s level.

He wrote, “I and our company @VoiceOfTheEast are ready to offer Miss Joy Mmesoma a 100% scholarship to study in the UK, Canada or the Unites States of America.

“Our team will work with her to get admission from any university of her choice in any of the above three countries. We will take 100% charge of her fees and upkeep until her Masters level. @lotanna, kindly get in touch with her and her family!

“We are calling on @JAMBHQ to desist from such unprofessional behavior. This is not just an attack on her person but the entire Igbo race!”

…As lawmaker, NGO seek quick passage of JAMB Validity Bill

Meanwhile, a Federal lawmaker, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, and an NGO, Speak Out Africa, have reinforced the need for the pending bill on the validity of United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be made top priority in the 10th Assembly.

This came to the fore during an online seminar, held on Monday, where the Lawmaker argued that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, should not be a revenue generating agency for the government.

She argued further that UTME, supervised by JAMB, should not be an examination that will be conducted every year.

The Lawmaker, who represents Oluyole Federal Constituency reiterated that JAMB should not be assessed on the revenue generated to the coffers of the federal government, rather it should be assessed on the quality of examination they give.

Akande-Sadipe said after laying the amendment on the bill at the floor of the House, and it is passed for an assent by the President, UTME will have a validity of 3 years.

The Bill, according to Akande-Sadipe, seeks to increase the validity of results of UTME from one year to five years. However, it has been reduced to three years.

Making comparison with examinations across the globe, Akande-Sadipe noted that the tenures/validity of other internationally recognized examinations last up to two-five years.

She referred participants to examinations of international standards such as GMAT, GRE, IELTS, TETOFL, SAT, MCAT, PTE, and USMLE.

The Oluyole representative said she is passionate about the bill, adding that many are victims of the JAMB yearly tests.

Akande-Sadipe argued that a student who passes UTME should not sit for the examination repeatedly, rather the result should be valid for about 3 years.(agency)/SHARE THIS
