An Abuja man posing as customer has absconded with a N57m worth of Mercedes Benz GLB 250 car, during a test drive in the city.

Following this, the Abuja Police Command is currently on the manhunt for him after a complaint from the car dealer named Mohammed Manga.

According to the complaint, Manga entrusted the vehicle to the suspect named Henry for a test drive. However, during the test drive, Henry took advantage of a brief moment when Manga’s friend, who accompanied him, stepped out to withdraw some money from a nearby Point of Sale (PoS) operator, prompting Henry to speed off with the car.

Manga expressed his frustration, stating, “You know how it is, there’s no traffic, no hold-up in Abuja, and that’s how he absconded with the car.” The stolen vehicle, valued at N57 million and with a mileage of 19,000, belonged to Manga’s friend who is also car dealer.

Josephine Ameh, spokesperson for the Abuja Police Command, confirmed that the incident had been reported and assured that the police has spread out its dragnets with a view to tracking down the fleeing suspect.

“It is a huge loss to the vehicle owner, and we are committed to getting to the root of the incident.

“The vehicle doesn’t have a plate number but we will work with the VIO in case someone wants to register it. We are on top of the case.”

The police investigation remains ongoing, and, like I said, we have spread our dragnets with a view to tracking down the fleeing suspect./SHARE THIS
