For beating the day light out of a police officer contrary to Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act, Afrobeats maestro, Seun Kuti, son of Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been starved in captivity of the police, who refused to give him food, nor allow his wife feed him while he was still in handcuffs.
The move, inside police sources said, was to reduce his physical power that pushed him into assaulting the police officer, where, as a matter of fact, he cannot beat the officer under normal circumstances, but for restraint as a law enforcement officer.
The State Online recalls that a social media video had trended on Saturday, May 13, in which Seun was captured dealing severe blows and slaps of a police officer.
Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, counsel to embattled Afrobeats maestro, Seun Kuti, has accused Lagos Police of starving his client in detention which in handcuffs. He was also accusing the police of denial of access to his wife to give him food, a move interpreted to mean sapping him of the energy with he slapped a police officer.
But when Seun Kuti started looking pale in police detetion on Tuesday morning, he was quickly rushed to a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos state, where he was granted bail after much arugument.
.“The court has granted the police a 48-hour window to finalise their investigations, after which Kuti can be released on bail with two sureties, who must possess landed property in Lagos.
