Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have expressed their displeasure after receiving alerts of N33,000 instead of N77,000 announced by the Federal Government, describing this as a grand ‘419’.
Recall that the Federal Government had on September 25, 2024, officially raised the monthly allowance for Corps members, effective from July 2024.
This adjustment aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, which will substantially enhance the welfare package for corps members.
However, on October 2, 2024, the internet and specifically X ( Twitter ) is left buzzing with Federal Government’s refusal to fulfill its end of the bargain.
Corps members have expressed displeasure, sharing screenshots of the 33,000 payment as opposed to the promised 77,000, with some going as far as calling the government’s strategy ‘propaganda’ and grand ‘419’ to its own citizens.
@Akureketical on X said; Federal government this is not our agreement o, You promised 77kKindwest wrote : APC is known for lies .. so na 33k NYSC finally pay corpers ??Lets continue watching big brother and act like there’s no problem in this country.
Another X user, Miss Oluchi wrote; “They have started paying corp members , guess how much? 33k . This government really thinks propaganda will save them.”
@Ojoblessed1 reacted; “las las na 33k baba still collect , na to use am carry 2 odds for sporty sha, why are we seeing 33k? or you want to send it twice? The expectation of FG and NYSC would be cut short wetin them want make we use 33k do?
