No fewer than 5,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will be empowered with N10 million each, so says the Federal Govt of President Bola Tinubu .
The Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Ibrahim, who disclosed this in Abuja on Monday, May 13, explained that the empowerment programme is to fund NYSC members’ entrepreneurial ventures after the completion of their service.
“The empowerment programme is to fund the corps members’ entrepreneurial ventures after they complete the NYSC scheme. The fund is to fund their entrepreneurial ventures after they complete the NYSC scheme,” he said.
Ibrahim said the initiative aligns with the upcoming NYSC reforms and is distinct from the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund program set for 2024.
“Furthermore, as part of the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund programme for 2024, I’m also pleased to announce that at least 5,000 corps members will have their entrepreneurial ventures funded with up to N10 million passing out.”
The minister further stated that the vision was not only to have a self-sustaining scheme but also a revenue-generating programme within the next five years.
“Permit me to inform us very briefly on what is to come regarding NYSC reforms. I am pleased to announce that I will be inaugurating a team to undertake the review, restructuring, and reforms of the NYSC,” he stressed./PLEASE SHARE
